New: Rabarber de Barista
Louise Lennips a.k.a Rabarber de Barista opende in januari de deuren van haar eigen koffiezaak in het pandje tegen de Der Aa-kerk. Voorheen werkte Louise al op dezelfde locatie als koffiemaker, in de City Central shop. Deze ontmoetingsplek voor internationals moest helaas haar winkel sluiten en ging op in het International Welcome Center North aan het Gedempte Zuiderdiep 98. Louise mag het nu in haar eentje proberen in het voormalige catechisatielokaaltje met specialty coffee van Koffiestation. Tot juni 2017 verkocht het Hanze Huis op deze locatie producten en lekkernijen uit de internationale Hanzesteden.
Louise Lennips a.k.a Rabarber de Barista opened the doors of her own coffee shop in January in the building next to the Der Aa church. Previously, Louise worked at the same location as a coffee maker, in the City Central shop. Unfortunately, this meeting place for internationals had to close its shop and became part of the International Welcome Center North at Gedempte Zuiderdiep 98. This unique place, a former catechization room, is now Louise’s coffee temple where she will prepare specialty coffee made with local Koffiestation beans. Fact: until June 2017, the Hanze Huis sold products and delicacies from the international Hanseatic cities at this location.
New vintage: LIZ Boetiek
Liz Boetiek is een winkel vol retro en vintage mode voor vrouwen en mannen. Eigenaar Lies Dijk van der Meer van origine kledingontwerper selecteert alles zelf en haalt ook bijzondere stukken uit het buitenland. Vaak onverkochte en ongedragen stukken uit de periode 1920-1980 gevonden in winkels die zij nog van vroeger kent. Liz Boetiek is de opvolger van Viva Vintage en is vanaf 15 januari geopend aan de Steentilstraat 25.
Liz Boetiek is a shop full of retro and vintage fashion for women and men. Owner Lies Dijk van der Meer, originally a clothing designer, selects everything herself and also gets special pieces from abroad. Often unsold and unworn pieces from the period 1920-1980 found in shops that she knows from back in the day. Liz Boetiek is the successor of Viva Vintage and is open from 15 January at Steentilstraat 25.
Coming soon: Monk
Verwacht: Monk. Deze speciaalzaak in whiskey is de nieuwe huurder van het winkelpand aan de Akerkhof 31 en de opvolger van wolwinkel Juffrouw Lanterfant.
Expected: Monk. This whiskey specialist is the new tenant of the shop at 31 Akerkhof and the successor of wool shop Juffrouw Lanterfant.
Verhuizer: De Herbivoor
Goed nieuws voor vegans en hun vrienden: het oudste plantaardige restaurant van stad krijgt een betere stek en verhuist naar het voormalige Italiaanse restaurant Giovanni’s. De knalgele gevel van Giovanni’s heeft gelukkig al plaats gemaakt voor een meer stemmig en tijdloos kleurtje, waar plantaardig goed mee gaat matchen. Ondertussen zijn De Herbivoren druk aan het klussen om de oversteek naar Zuiderdiep 53- slechts drie deuren verderop van de plek waar De Herbivoor ooit begon – mogelijk te maken.
Good news for vegans and their friends: the oldest plant-based restaurant in town gets a better place and moves to the former Italian restaurant Giovanni’s. Fortunately, the bright yellow facade of Giovanni’s has already made way for a more moody and timeless color, which goes well with plants. Meanwhile, De Herbivores are busy redecorating their new place at Zuiderdiep 53 – just three doors away from where De Herbivore once started.
Pernikkel’s nieuwe eigenaar
Spijslokaal Pernikkel aan de Aweg heeft een nieuwe eigenaar: Marcel Romijn nam het sinds 2014 bestaande restaurant over van de oorspronkelijke eigenaren en paste het concept lichtjes aan. Op 28 januari opende het spijslokaal dat voortaan als ontbijt- en lunchrestaurant door het leven gaat en het diner laat schieten.
Spijslokaal Pernikkel has a new owner: Marcel Romijn took over the restaurant, which had existed since 2014, from the original owners and adjusted the concept slightly. Pernikkel reopened on January 28 as a breakfast and lunch restaurant.
