Aan de Folkingestraat 3 opende 5 oktober 2023 Bar Barrie.
Deze nieuwe eetzaak voor ontbijt, lunch en borrel wordt gerund door Guido Nijboer en Jordi de Boer. Guido, is als één van de mede-eigenaren van het populaire restaurant Bistro Boys geen onbekende in de Folkinge. Samen met Jordi bedacht hij in Thailand, waar de mannen elkaar tijdens een vakantie toevallig troffen, het plan voor Bar Barrie.
Barrie heeft een heel eigen retro en eclectisch sfeertje, een beetje Californië meets 1970’s. Met veel warme bruine tinten in het meubilair, een lavalamp en urban Amerikaanse fotografie aan de muur. Bij dit bijzondere interieur hoort uiteraard ook een spannend menu.
Ontbijten kan onder andere met shakshuka of een snee desembrood met avocado, roerei en bacon. Iets simpeler kan ook: koffie met een croissant bijvoorbeeld. Voor lunch kies je uit verschillende belegde desembroodjes, waaronder meerdere vegetarische varianten of een pinsa uit de oven. De borrelkaart is het meest uitgebreid en staat vol kleine hapjes die je met elkaar kunt delen, zoals gebakken gnocchi met gorgonzola, lemongrass chili chicken en polenta frites.
Bar Barrie is vier dagen per week geopend: op donderdag tot en met zondag van 08:30 tot 22:00 uur.

A new restaurant for breakfast, lunch and drinks run by Guido Nijboer and Jordi de Boer. As one of the co-owners of the popular restaurant Bistro Boys, Guido is no stranger to the “Folkinge”. Together with Jordi, he came up with the plan for Bar Barrie in Thailand, where the men met by chance during a holiday.
Barrie has its own retro and eclectic atmosphere, a bit of California 1970’s meets 1980’s Paris. With lots of warm brown tones in the furniture, a lava lamp and urban American photography on the wall. This special interior naturally also includes an exciting menu.
Breakfast can include shakshuka or a slice of sourdough bread with avocado, scrambled eggs and bacon. Something simpler can also be done: coffee with a croissant, for example. For lunch you can choose from various sandwiches, including several vegetarian variants or a pinsa from the oven. The drinks menu is the most extensive and is full of small snacks that you can share, such as fried gnocchi with gorgonzola, lemongrass chili chicken and polenta fries.
Bar Barrie is open four days a week: Thursday to Sunday from 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM.
